Four men killed in a Police Car Chase on Bingley Road Bradford

FOUR men who were killed in a crash in the early hours of this morning following a police chase have been named on social media.

It happened at 5.30am on Bingley Road, at the junction with Toller Lane.

The group were travelling in a grey BMW which crashed into a tree. West Yorkshire Police has confirmed all the people in the vehicle who were killed were men.


The collision happened at around 5:30am this morning as the BMW the friends were travelling in was being pursued by an unmarked police car.

Police confirmed all four men travelling in the car have sadly passed away.

The victims were named locally as 22-year-old Murthza Chaudhry, 21-year-old Arbaz Hussain and two others have been named as only Tayyub, and Zeeshan Khalid.

Shocked family members have been gathering at the scene of the crash − which has been cordoned off − as they pay tribute.

Friends of the victims have taken to social media to pay tributes to the young men.

The group were travelling in a grey BMW which crashed into a tree. West Yorkshire Police has confirmed all the people in the vehicle who were killed were men.

Mohammed Asim said on social media he was “gutted” to hear of Arbaz’s death.

He added: “I grew up with him through primary school and always seen him about in my local, lived a few doors away.

“Sad, 21 and gone, from what I knew of him, how he was with me, he was a good lad.”

Family members and shocked locals converged at the site.

One of the dead men has been named locally as Muthaza Choudhury Murthi, 22. His cousin Faisal Ali, 23, told the T&A: “He was a young lad enjoying life. He was an outgoing lad.

Heaton area councillors are also at the scene. In a joint statement they said: “It’s a very sad day for Heaton, to lose four young people like that.

“We don’t know the circumstances.

“We are just trying to keep things calm at the moment and letting the police get on with their investigation.”

Two other victims have been named online as Zeeshan Khalid and 21-year-old Arbaz Hussain, while a fourth is currently identified only as Tayyub.

The police watchdog said in a statement: ‘The Independent Office for Police Conduct has launched an investigation after a fatal crash in Bradford this morning.

‘At about 5.30am a BMW crashed on Toller Lane, Bradford. Tragically four people inside the BMW have died.

‘It is understood, at this time, that the car was being followed by an unmarked police car at the time of the crash.’

IOPC regional director Miranda Biddle: ‘This is a most tragic incident and our sympathies are with the family and friends of those who have died.

‘West Yorkshire Police made a mandatory referral to the IOPC and at 6.24am we declared an independent investigation. Our investigators are attending post incident procedures, have travelled to the scene and have begun gathering evidence.’
