Janaed Akhtar, 39, of Cope Road, Banbury, was charged with one count each of murder and perverting the course of justice.
The charges relate to an incident that led to the death of Neil Comins, 39, who died following an assault in Cope Road on Wednesday, January 3.
Akhtar was remanded in custody to appear at Oxford Magistrates Court today (Thursday, January 11).
The charges come after a Thames Valley Police investigation.
A Home Office post-mortem examination into Mr Comins’ death has taken place and the preliminary cause of death has been given as traumatic brain injury.
A police statement said: “Mr Comins’ next of kin continue to be supported by specially-trained officers. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
