Mustafa Dogru talks to AS
Spanish paper AS have interviewed Mustafa Dogru, the Turkish agent of Leicester City centre-half Caglar Soyuncu.
When Man United signed Harry Maguire last summer, questions were asked about how Leicester’s defence would handle the loss.
Soyuncu stepped into the breach, and the Turk has enjoyed an excellent campaign at the King Power Stadium.
23-year-old Soyuncu has made 28 appearances in the Premier League. He scored once and chipped in with one assist.
Caglar Soyuncu’s contract at Leicester City
Soyuncu joined Leicester City from Freiburg in 2018.
Leicester paid the Bundesliga outfit 19 million pounds for the defender.
In return, Soyuncu agreed a 5-year deal with the Foxes, to stay at Leicester until 2023.
Mustafa Dogru links his client to Barcelona & Liverpool
Could Soyuncu leave Leicester in the next transfer window?
During his interview with AS, Mustafa Dogru gave the impression his client would jump at an opportunity to join Barcelona or Liverpool:
It is possible that Barcelona could sign Caglar this summer, as they wanted to sign him before he moved from Altinordu to Freiburg.
We negotiated with them back then, and they presented an interesting project.
But we wanted a situation which guaranteed first team football for Caglar, which is why we chose Freiburg.
Liverpool are the only Premier League side that could sign him, but PSG could also be an option.
Should Leicester fans be worried about Soyuncu leaving the club?
While some Leicester supporters may be upset with Soyuncu’s agent, others may appreciate that he’s simply trying to raise the hype around his client.
Is there anything real to suggest that Barcelona or Liverpool want to sign Soyuncu? Mustafa Dogru brought no evidence to back that up.
Moreover, just a few months ago, when Man City were linked with Soyuncu, the player made the following remarks about his Leicester future:
I don’t think it would be right to go somewhere right now. I’m having a good season. Above all, I still have a lot to learn.
When the Premier League stopped, Leicester were third in the table.
Accordingly, the Foxes are currently on course to play in next season’s Champions League.
