In response to residents increasingly turning to the website to pay bills and find information, the council has improved its accessibility, reduced the number of pages, and updated its structure.
Members of the Residents’ Panel played a key role with their Christmas survey feedback shaping the improved design.
Of the 116 people surveyed, 92 per cent found the layout “quite” or “very” straightforward, 88 per cent found the information clear and helpful, and 92 per cent said the colour, contrast, text size, and navigation were accessible.
However, the council is eager for a more extensive public consensus and is actively inviting all Oxford residents to evaluate the site’s new design.
Residents can leave their feedback by visiting the website and clicking on the site-wide banner.
Councillor Nigel Chapman, cabinet member for citizen focused services, said: “The main way Oxford residents interact with Oxford City Council is via our website, so we want to make sure it works for everyone and on any device.
“I hope residents will see that we have made significant improvements to the website over recent months.
“We’re now inviting them to have their say, so we can make further improvements over the coming months.”
The City Council will incorporate the gathered feedback into future website modifications.
