Manchester United star Marcos Rojo flees Dominican Republic hotel – New York Post

Manchester United star Marcos Rojo packed his bags and fled a Dominican Republic vacation after reports revealed his hotel was where a California tourist mysteriously died.

The 29-year-old Argentinian soccer player checked in with his family to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana before he learned of the recent death of another hotel guest, the Daily Mail reported.

Rojo had been out of reach on a two-day fishing trip when reports surfaced that 67-year-old Robert Bell Wallace died during an April trip to the resort. Wallace’s cause of death hasn’t been released, but the man’s family said he became unwell after drinking a glass of scotch from the hotel’s minibar.

Upon his return from fishing, Rojo and his family decided to continue their vacation elsewhere.

“He is just being cautious,” a source told the news outlet. “He doesn’t wish to take any chances.”

Prior to his departure, the Manchester defender shared images posing in the luxury hotel’s pool with his wife and children.

The soccer star’s stay coincided with a series of bizarre cases out of the Dominican Republic, where nearly 70 tourists have reported illnesses since March and six American tourists, including Wallace, have died under mysterious circumstances.
