We were prepared for Trooping the Colour, the queen’s official birthday celebrations, to be a Meghan-free zone this year, given that the Duchess of Sussex gave birth only one month ago. But she didn’t let her maternity leave stop her from putting in an appearance at this important royal event. Meghan rode in a carriage alongside Prince Harry, the Duchess of Cornwall, and Kate Middleton.
For the occasion, Meghan wore what is fast-becoming one of her trademark looks for important royal family events: an understated head-to-toe navy look. The outfit reminded us instantly of her outfit at Princess Eugenie’s wedding in October 2018. Her compact navy hat was eerily similar to the style she wore back then, though this time she teamed it with short sleeves, rather than the classic coat she needed in the colder weather. The whole ensemble came courtesy of her wedding dress designer, Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy, and consisted of a navy wool crepe cocktail dress with white sleeves and matching cape, a navy parasisal beret with feather trim, and a peacock blue quilted leather clutch. Meghan wore a lot of blue and navy throughout her pregnancy and it’s clearly becoming a go-to for her when it comes to significant royal engagements.
