Video filmed in Nettlebed Mead shows a jet of water shooting into the air after the pipe burst at around 10am this morning (February 9).
Thames Water were alerted and finally brought the leak under control at about 12.30pm.
Householder Fiona Greenwood was shocked by the force of the water.
She said: “There’s been a slow leak for a couple of days, and they came to sort it out this morning.
“However it seems not to have gone to plan.
“It started erupting around 10am and they’ve just managed to get it under control at about 12.30pm.
“The water board officers were sitting in the vans during this time and when questioned said they were waiting for the supply to be turned off.”
Thames Water has been contacted.
