Asked whether it was still his view that the Tories have a problem with Islamophobia, Mr Khan said: “Clearly. More than two weeks on, the fact that [Rishi] Sunak, [deputy prime minister Oliver] Dowden, the cabinet, nobody in a senior position can utter the word ‘Islamophobia’, can call Anderson out for what he said, shows the Conservative party seems to be more interested in playing on people’s fears, rather than addressing them.”
