It’s been an eventful start to the 2019 league year for the Jets, as the team looks to take the necessary steps to ascend itself into playoff contention.
While this is only the beginning, here are a few of my thoughts on their early activity.
Good for the Jets for taking the approach they did with Le’Veon Bell
The Jets needed Bell. They couldn’t come out of this offseason without him. Not with their $82 million in salary cap space. Not after talking of their desire to provide Sam Darnold with weapons. Not after Anthony Barr reportedly got “sick to his stomach” over his initial decision to come to New York.
They couldn’t negotiate with him, then let him sign with another team. It would have been such a slap in the face.
But good for the Jets for sticking to their guns. Good for them for not bidding against themselves. Good for them for trusting their sources, knowing they were the only team in the Bell…
